Abigail

Hello Bmys9 -- I'm going to ask that you stop editing the Abigail page now, and take some time to play the game more before making bad translations. It's important that we stick to in-game translations, even if they are incorrect. It's also important to preview changes before saving them, to avoid making a huge number of edits to the same section over and over.

I appreciate your work on translating the wiki very much! Please come back after you've played the game a little more, so you have the right context. Thank you, margotbean (mesaj) 00:17, 17 Mart 2019 (UTC)

Gifts

Hi, Bmys9! You are correct in saying that you are better than google translate. Google translate is AWFUL for Turkish! I do not speak Turkish, but even I can see that the translations are often a mess of gibberish.

So, let's talk about translating the words for gifting. On the German wiki, one person translated Abigail's page, another person translated Sebastian's page, a third person translated Sam's page, and so on, and none of the translations were the same. Another person translated the Friendship (Arkadaşlık) page, and none of the translations matched the villagers' pages. Then yet another person translated the "List of all gifts", and the translations were again different than the other pages on the wiki.

So, I would like to avoid that happening on the Turkish wiki. Ideally, we will have some discussion with other people who speak Turkish, and agree on the best words to use. I can't decide on what words, since I don't speak Turkish. I can only make sure that all pages match each other on the wiki.

You gave me 4 translations on my talk page, but there are 5 types of gifts. You also typed "Natural" instead of "Neutral", and gave 2 choices for the translation. As you can imagine, this makes me think we should proceed slowly.

I believe the Arkadaşlık page should be translated first. We need to express the concept of "Universal gifts" as well as the 5 reactions to them, using the best, most concise words. After that, the villagers' pages can be translated to match the wording used.

I will put a notice at the top of the Arkadaşlık page asking for feedback. Let's wait and see what others think before we make a mess like the German wiki was. (I spent hours cleaning that up, and I don't speak German either, so I really do want to avoid past mistakes!)
